Spring/Annual meetings of the IMF & World Bank

by The Parliamentary Network | on 03.06.20

On the occasion of the Annual and Spring Meetings organized by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, the Parliamentary Network offers MPs the opportunity to engage with both institutions during a dedicated Parliamentary Workshop.

Parliamentarians are invited to join the Parliamentary Network delegation for a dialogue on development and matters related to the global economy, with discussions between MPs, senior management, and technical or operational staff of the WB and the IMF, meaning the people responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of projects and policies. The workshop provides:

  • Up to date information to parliamentarians on the World Bank’s and IMF’s priorities and strategic directions;
  • Direct access to the World Bank and IMF for influential parliamentarians, thus creating effective possibilities for dialogue and impact (including at the regional and country level),
  • A knowledge-sharing platform and, therefore, promoting parliamentary engagement for better development outcomes.

In the context of an ambitious global development agenda, the parliamentary workshop at the Annual and Spring Meetings plays a critical role in building political will to ensure that both development programs and the SDGs are attained, while encouraging country ownership and government accountability. All sessions will provide concrete examples and actions parliamentarians can take to achieve the goals and challenges discussed.
