Virtual Parliamentary Meeting on Fragility, Conflict and Violence

by Philippe Martini | on 17.11.20
https://youtu.be/Vu1sUE2JZh8

Extreme poverty is falling around the world, but increasing in countries impacted by FCV, where it is estimated that up to two-thirds of the world’s extreme poor will live by 2030. The recent health and economic threats posed by COVID-19 only risk to compound the situation. The World Bank Group is doing more, and doing it differently, expanding its commitments in fragile and conflict-affected states through long-term, multi-faceted and tailored approaches to meet national and regional needs. Parliamentarians play an important role in delivering results in these challenging environments. The virtual meeting on FCV served as a platform for dialogue with experts as well as parliamentarians from around the world on actions parliaments can take to enhance country outcomes in fragile and conflict-affected nations through targeted legislation, enhanced oversight, and development funding.
